Even When He is Silent

I believe in the sun, even when it's not shining
I believe in love, even when I feel it not
I believe in God, even when He is silent

These touching words were found on the wall of a concentration camp at the end of World War II. This simple, yet profound poem has really inspired me in the past few months. Life is full of of uncertainty, unfairness, and difficult times. Sometimes it is hard to imagine a God who would allow the sun to stop shining, or love to fade. However, I know that God is always there and that he loves us. He allows for the sun to shine down on His children so they can find joy, but he also allows for the sun to stop shining so they can grow. Although the sun may not be shining, it is still always there. It is a gift from God that provides light and warmth. As I have gone through difficult times and remembered this principle, it helps me have hope. Because I know the sun is still there, I know I will feel it's warm rays in the future.
I believe that it is vital to have hope for a bright future. When one goes through sorrow and has no hope, they might as well give up. However, when someone has hope for the future, that hope will propel them forward to endless blessings from God.

  1. Wow how inspiring! I actually recognized this poem(?) because it's a Camp Oakcrest song. It's a camp I went to when I was 13. It's a really nice reminder. Thank you

  2. Great thoughts. I hope you share this on other social media too! I recently shared a quote I found uplifting from Conference and was surprised to find that one girl thanked me for posting it because it was exactly what she needed that day!

  3. Consider me inspired. I have been struggling trying to teach ten year old kids about the gospel. It is hard because they are so close to beginning to form their own thoughts, but they are still not quite there. I think I will share this poem with them next Sunday!
